Boredom Makes Me Sick: Adolescents’ Boredom Trajectories and Their Health-Related Quality of Life

Existing research shows consistent links between boredom and depression, somatic complaints, substance abuse, or obesity eating disorders. However, comparatively little is known about potential psychological physical health-related correlates of academic boredom. Evidence for such a relationship can be derived from the literature, as has adverse consequences in both work achievement-related settings. The present study investigates latent correlations 1.484 adolescents’ (Mage = 13.23) mathematics scores at three time points during semester 2018/19 their Rasch scaled quality life (HRQoL). Moreover, we applied growth curve modeling to estimate trajectories across determined parameters student HRQoL bivariate correlation analyses. Our results show that significantly negatively linked with all dimensions (physical well-being, autonomy parent relation, social support peers, school environment [SCH], general [GH]). Furthermore, stronger increases were associated SCH GH. In conclusion, given more severe problems, signs could an early warning signal potentially problems.
